These are the Yeo et al. (2011) intrinsic connectivity networks: regions whose spontaneous activity rises and falls together even at rest, projected onto your professor's cortical surface through its spherical registration. Click a network in the list (or directly on the brain) to isolate it and read what it does, with citations to the primary literature.
Area names & colors: in the all-networks view, hovering names just the network; isolate a network and hovering also names the specific area. The Color component areas toggle (visible once a network is isolated) paints each of its areas a different color, following the same Components / Desikan / Destrieux selector. "Components" uses functional names within the selected network's vocabulary (FEF, TPJ, dACC…); "Desikan" and "Destrieux" show the anatomical atlas labels instead. Component names are anatomical approximations: e.g., FEF is identified as the DAN's territory on the precentral/superior-frontal junction.
Honesty notes: boundaries are group-average estimates from 1,000 brains. Individual network borders (including this brain's) differ from the atlas. The unfold slider, compass, and precision rotation controls all work exactly as in Cortex Explorer.
